The Stalham with Happing Partnership is the successor organisation to the earlier Stalham Regeneration Partnership established in the mid’90s - but remodelled now to widen its remit beyond the needs of the market town of Stalham to embrace also the surrounding hinterland of villages in the Happing area. It is legally constituted as a Company limited by Guarantee (reg. no 05413935), and is a registered charity (Charity No. 1133734).

It exists to promote the regeneration of the area, bringing together a wide cross-section of the community – comprising individuals, local organisations, businesses and local councillors as well as such statutory bodies as the Broads Authority, North Norfolk District Council and Norfolk County Council.

The Happing Partnership is one of 7 recognised partnerships in North Norfolk. It currently rents a Shop premises in Stalham High Street and employs a full-time Co-ordinator. A major Survey and Consultation exercise was undertaken in the Happing villages during 2005 as part of the Leader+ Programme and as a result a number of key projects were identified to take forward for funding.

Over 200 individuals, and over 100 local small businesses, have joined the Partnership over the past 2 years and 9 volunteers help the Co-ordinator to enable the Happing Shop to be open to the public for 6 days each week during office hours.

Under the auspices of the Partnership a number of project groups are taking forward work in a variety of policy areas e.g. Happing Business Group, “Canopy” Community Woodland Group, “Active Travel” Safer Cycle/Pathways Project, Happing Summer Festival Committee, Happing Artist’ Group and Happing Young Citizens Group.

The Partnership has a Board of Directors currently comprising 10 persons elected at the organisation’s Annual General Meeting, and this Board meets on a quarterly basis to oversee and provide a lead to the work of the Partnership. A broader- based Representatives’ Group meets bi-monthly affording an in-put by Schools, Voluntary and Community Organisations etc.
